Not content with launching one new label in the past few months, Soma are at it again in January when new offshoot Somabeta arrives on the scene. The Slam boys kicked off their first new label, Paragraph, with the mighty City Destroyer a few weeks back, but now it’s the turn of upcoming producers to get their music heard.
Somabeta is tailored to emerging talent, and it kicks off with a double A-side due out on January 18. On one side you’ll find Audiofillia, the production duo of Andy Dabula from Argentina and Daniel Jaramillo from Ecuador. Andy is no stranger to music, being artistic director of Argentina's leading web magazine DLA (www.dancelatinoamerica.com), manager of Sonica Music School and director of Ableton Live's E-Learning Scholarship Programme in Latin America, Daniel is Ecuador's current hot property. A young, upcoming producer and DJ, he has recently released on Airdrop Records and DLA Records. Together they create a unique combination of sci-tech atmospheres, Latin grooves and deep melodic sounds.
On the flip is Soma’s own Let's Go Outside, who conducted a mammoth remix competition earlier in 2008. Jean Ramesse – a young producer, promoter and label owner who works constantly with his Sleaze techno nights and label of the same name – came out as winner and finally makes his Soma debut here with his remix of You Make Me Struggle. His remix of LGO is a thunderous rampage until a massive jacking session finishes you off.
