Josh Wink’s label Ovum continues to support one of the fastest rising stars of last year with the release of Shlomi Aber’s Tokyo Shanghai EP on March 22. The follow-up to Shlomi’s massive FreakSide, which came out on Ovum last year, this new acid-tinged EP is already doing the business all over the world.

Over the past two years, Shlomi's tracks have been winning support from the likes of Sven Vath, Carl Craig, John Digweed, Richie Hawtin or Francois K. The Israeli producer also won over a whole host of new fans with his album State Of No One on Renaissance. Talking about his tunes to Radio 1, he said: “No matter if it's hard or soft, music just needs to touch your mind, body and soul at the same time.” This approach, married with eight years of production experience molding influences of jazz, funk, minimal, acid and techno, means he now boasts some of the world's most prestigious labels on his ever-expanding CV.

Ovum apparently couldn't wait to get Shlomi’s next productions onto their roster, so Josh and co are all over his latest EP. The title track of Tokyo Shanghai – described as “minimal tech house mayhem in a Freakside manner” – has been setting floors on fire since Wink had it sent to him last year. On the flip, Quivery is pure 303-driven acid house with up-to-date production.

The next Ovum release will be Just So You Know by D’Julz.
