Every so often, a DJ arrives on the scene who immediately gets people talking. Romanian-born Raresh is one of those DJs. Part of a pool of Romanian talent currently shaking floors around the world – alongside his labelmates and friends Rhadoo and Pedro – Raresh has been DJing since 2003 and has already played with the likes Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos. Both were immediately convinced of his extraordinary talent. Over the years, he’s developed a unique and special style, combining minimal, tech-house with house in a warm, delicate but powerful way. One of Raresh’s strong beliefs is that a DJ is not a complete artist until he becomes a producer, and that there is always something more to learn and practice in music. That’s why he’s started up his own label Arpiar with Pedro and Rhadoo, creating music that they hope will strengthen the Romanian scene.

All of this has earned Raresh massive respect from the likes of Luciano, Josh Wink, Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug and Marc Houle. Not bad for a 23-year-old. So when he arrived at Sensu at the Sub Club in Glasgow at the end of last year for his debut Scottish apperence, EQTV had to find out what all the fuss is about. We were suitably impressed. Huge props to the Sensu boys for bringing the up-and-comer north of the Border before anyone else. Their next set of guests are Peace Division, another night not to miss.

But in the meantime, here’s Raresh wowing the Subby crowd, and talking about his Freakshow mix album, his views on music in general and how clubland is starting to shake Romania to its roots.

Catch Peace Division playing Sensu at the Sub Club this Friday, February 15. Visit For more on Raresh visit and
