It’s been a while coming and the anticipation has been nigh unbearable, but finally the Plump DJs are ready to release their new artist album. Titled Headthrash, the latest long player from Andy Gardner and Lee Rous is set to drop on June 2 on Finger Lickin’ Records. And signs are it’s going to be a beauty.

The first single to drop from the album was System Addict, which won Best Single at the 2007 Breakspoll. Then came Torque Of The Devil, which got our reviewer Believe all sorts of excited. Now comes word that Headthrash is far from being just an instrumental album, with Andy and Lee embracing songwriting and collaborating with a host of vocal talents. Shifting Gears, for example, features UK artist Niara, while Victim is a vocal collaboration with Sharlene Hector.

We’re told that the album isn’t just another rehash of the popular sounds of the moment, and that the boys have stuck to their guns, doing the breaks thing like only they can. We’re promised Balearic sounds, punky vocals, peak-time floor-fillers, funk, disco and even an 80s talk box. But whatever they deliver in a couple of months’ time, it’ll be one not to miss.
