Richie Hawtin’s label Minus breaks its three-month silence on March 22 to start celebrating the imprint’s 10th birthday. And Richie and co are celebrating in style. We’ve been told there are records aplenty on the way this year – including, hopefully, new material from Plastikman himself – but first are a selection of top-drawer parties.
On March 22, the Minus crew arrive at Fabric for a night that includes sets from Richie Hawtin, Gaiser Live, Magda, Troy Pierce, Rebekah Aff, Adam Beyer, Marco Carola and Craig Richards. On March 26 they pitch up in Miami for the Winter Music Conference, with Richie talking at South Beach Sessions – Green Initiatives in the Music Industry. This year the industry is buzzing with environmental chatter. Artists are touring using only green methods and labels are now using biodegradable packaging. The industry is rallying around conservation efforts in an unprecedented way, and this forum is a chance to listen to the Minus boss and others offering their ideas on the subject. The following day, on March 27, the Minus birthday takes over Nocturnal for a night that promises Heartthrob live, Ambivalent live, JPLS live, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Marco Carola and Paco Osuna. On March 28, they’re at the Ultra Festival in Miami, where Richie’s playing alongside Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and Josh Wink. and then on April 5, it’s off to Mannheim in Germany for the Timewarp festival.
