Laurent Garnier delivers his first dancefloor 12” in five years on Âme and Dixon's house imprint Innervisions on May 19. Titled Back To My Roots, the track was born during Laurent’s visit to Panorama Bar in Berlin in February – after five hours and at 5am he was supposed to finish and let Dixon take over, but instead he asked to play on. So he did – for another three hours.

Laurent takes up the story: “During that time I played the demo mix of Back To My Roots, which I'd made that week. Dixon jumped on me to ask what it was. He said he loved the sound of it and asked what I wanted to do with it, mentioning that he would really like to release it on Innervisions. I went back home on the Monday and worked straight away on another track, which I named Panoramix (a tribute to that night at Panorama). I sent a very rough demo to Dixon via download and received a text five minutes later saying he wanted it all. It happened really fast without me having any plans at all.”

Says Dixon: "When Laurent played Back To My Roots at Panorama, I immediately had the feeling I was listening to a classic. It's a very unique timeless production. Not hip, not modern, not old school. It’s also a 12-minute journey that is worth playing for that long.”

So it looks like another stormer for Innervisions. Since 2005, the label has seen quality releases from artists such as Château Flight, Stefan Goldmann, Henrik Schwarz, Atjazz, Tokyo Black Star, Marcus Worgull, Dixon and Âme. This year sees the label's first album release with Muting The Noise, a compilation including exclusive ambient tracks from the likes of Klaus Schulze, Terre Thaemlitz, Henrik Schwarz, Karma, Âme and more. There’s also an EP collaboration between Henrik Schwarz, Âme and Dixon in the pipeline.

Laurent, meanwhile, is working on his next album, due out later this year. He will also be touring live towards the end of 2008.
